In an effort to expand the depth at wide receiver, the Giants have brought back a member of their Super Bowl XLVI squad – Mario Manningham. He left for San Francisco in free agency after the championship, where he tore his ACL and has been struggling to gain traction ever since. Manningham passed the team physical so his knee must have checked out alright, but there’s no reason to expect any level of production. For now, he will sit behind Rueben Randle and Jerrel Jernigan on the depth chart, and it’s inevitable that more [WR]s will be added to the mix. As long as the contract is for minimal value there’s no reason to cry out against this signing.
