At Sunday’s practice, there wasn’t any indication of change to the injury statuses. [DE] Jason Pierre-Paul did come out and stay on the sidelines during practice, which is presumably an upgrade from staying inside and away from the field. But who knows. We are still waiting to hear the news that [RG] Chris Snee has come off the active/PUP, which is expected to come over the next week.
The highlights of practice yet again involved the secondary, namely [CB]s Prince Amukamara and Aaron Ross, making plays on the ball. During the two minute drill, [TE] Brandon Myers blew past busted coverage and scored a long touchdown, ending the drill early. Coughlin wasn’t thrilled about that, but he wouldn’t line the players up to run it again. “That’s the drill”. The offense got the win.
Today, [WR] Hakeem Nicks (groin) assured the media that he will be practicing tomorrow. Still need to see if he will play any snaps in the preseason game on Saturday, but getting him back on the practice field is definitely good news. Although Rueben Randle has been enjoying the extra reps with the starters, offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride has commented that Nicks needs that practice time if he’s going to produce in this offense. That’s a different tune than we usually hear about star players; We usually get the “he’s a veteran”, and “the important thing is his health”.
