Same players sat out / were limited during practice on Thanksgiving Thursday, here are the names if you want ’em — DNP :: [RB] Ahmad Bradshaw (foot), [WR] Domenik Hixon (ankle), [DT] Linval Joseph (knee) … LIMITED :: [SS] Kenny Phillips (knee), [OLB] Jacquian Williams (knee), [OLB] Keith Rivers (knee/calf).
The only surprise here is that Joseph expected to be able to go today, so this could become a problem if he sits out Friday also. There is already a depth concern at [DT] since Markus Kuhn tore his ACL, so we definitely want Joseph to be able to play against Green Bay.
As I tweeted out yesterday, [WR] David Douglas has been signed by Tampa Bay off of our practice squad. Since then, we have replaced his spot on the PS with [WR] Dan DePalma. Both Douglas and DePalma looked talented when given opportunities in training camp and the preseason, so it’s sad to see Douglas go (look out for him in TBay!) but also nice to have DePalma back in the system. The Giants have remarkable depth at the position, so it won’t be easy for any up and coming wide out to breach the roster.
For Green Bay, [OLB] Clay Matthews (hamstring) sat out of practice for the second straight day. It continues to look unlikely he will play, which would be great for us. [WR]s Greg Jennings and Donald Driver were both limited, and [FB] John Kuhn was also limited. The biggest help there would be if Jennings missed his 8th game this season, and gave our secondary one less threat to account for.
Last bit — IF the Cowboys had won today’s match up against the Redskins, our lead in the NFC East would have dwindled to a measly half-game. Luckily, RG3 and crew took care of business and the Giants can be assured to maintain first place in the division for one more week, win or lose.
